The activity i liked the most was kahoots. It was the first time i played or heard of it so I was a little bit nervous and all in all everything went ok. I think it was a very fun way of starting the lesson and a good activity to introduce the topics tackled throughout the lesson.
In my view, one of the most interesting activities of the lesson was the one which envolved recognizing the importance of strategic use of varied seating arrangements -different from the panoptic disposition- which can contribute to both students' interaction with the rest of the class and with the teacher. Monitoring and paying attention to diversity on the part of the teacher were spotted as key elements for needs analysis and appropriate scaffolding as well as for the addition of extra aid. It was interesting to interpret graphic representations of different classroom scenarios and to imagine what activities could be taking place in such situations. I liked this task because it did not imply competitions of any sort but cooperative work since it was done in pairs or in threes. When we shared our interpretations we found many coincidences between ours and our classmates'. It was also good to be surprised by the teacher's sudden arrival at the breakout room monitoring our work and offering her help!
The activities that we did regarding seating arrangements was one of my favourite parts of the class. It not only allowed us to discuss what they are suitable for and the different activities that can be done in those arrangements, but also triggered us to go beyond the organization of desks. Looking at how a classroom is organized gives us lots of information about the teaching approach selected, the type of activities carried out, the relationship between teacher and students and many more aspects that are crucial in the lesson. The video and the drawings provided us clear mental image.
As before, the class was very well organized. It was dynamic, interactive and reflective. We could all share our ideas and learn form the diverse opinions of others.
The activity I liked the most was the one in which we had to imagine different situations according to the seating arrangements. I think it was very fruitful since it made us reflect upon the importance of the organization of desks and how it can determine the relationships in the class. Furthermore, the instance of the debate was a great opportunity to share different alternatives and to exchange ideas.
Once again I believe that the class was well planned and organized. It is something that as a student I could "feel", which is important since it gives everyone a sense of security. If I were to choose one activity, it would have to be imagining the different scenarios for the different seating arrangements. Sometimes we may stick to one specific one and not think of other layouts that may benefit the development of a specific activity. It also helped us think outside of the box and brainstorm classroom situations that we may not have thought of.
I really enjoyed the clas, It was well organized and useful. For me, an activity that stood out was the seating arrengement activity. I like that we were able to discuss different ideas in groups and it was an interesting exercise because usually , when planning, you think of an activity and then you think of the things you will need, dynamics, seating arrengements, etc. It was fun to look at it from another perspective
The activity I found most interesting was the one in which we had to come up with different tasks we would carry out depending on the seating arrangements. It helped me understand that it is not necessary to stick to one or few ways of organizing the classroom, but that we have many options that can be effective for the different purposes of our lessons. Apart from that, I think that working in pairs and then sharing our ideas is very fruitful given that we have different experiences and ideas that we can bring to the class.
I liked our second lesson very much. I especially enjoyed the activity in which we went to our breakout rooms and discussed different seating arrangements and had to come up with an activity for which each seating arrangement would be suitable. I found the whole activity challenging, and also, it helped to remind us that the seating arrangement is one more tool that the teacher can make use of, and not just something that "happens" to the teacher. Therefore, when the teacher comes into the classroom and before starting the lesson, they can, with the students' help, devote one or two minutes to arranging the classroom so that it will be ready for the first activity of the day.
I really enjoyed the activity where we separated into groups of two and discussed what activities we could plan for which seating arrangement. I found it challenging to think about the tasks we could organise. It really made me think about how seating arrangements can help the flow of a class. I also liked exchanging ideas with a partner and, later on, with the whole class.
Reflections on last class How did you like preparing the video on instructions on Flipgrid? Did you find planning the sequence in pairs or small groups useful? Why/not?
